Typhoon Haiyan is one of the most devastating natural disasters to have hit the Philippines, leaving in its wake an estimated 10,000 dead and millions injured and displaced. One of the most powerful storms ever recorded, Haiyan (known locally as Yolanda) struck the Philippines on 8th - 9th November 2013. Its 200 mph winds flattened buildings, wrecked transport, cut off power supplies and turned once-thriving communities into debris.

According to UN agencies:
  • 9.5 million people have been affected in nine regions across the Philippines
  • More than 618,000 people have been displaced
  • 1,458 evacuation centres have been set up
  • Unicef estimates the number of children affected is 4 million
Islamic Help has launched an emergency appeal to help those suffering as they struggle to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of Haiyan. It is critical that they receive food, wat
